The organ at Trinity was originally constructed in 1933 by the Woodstock Organ Company here in Ontario. Woodstock was a major player in the Canadian organ scene during the 1920s and 30s, building well-constructed organs with heavy and dark pipework. In 1972, Casavant was engaged to rebuild the organ. A new console was provided, along with many new ranks of pipes. Though much pipework was retained, it was largely revoiced and repurposed, and mixtures, reeds, and mutations in the high Neo-Baroque style found their way into every division.
Our work in early 2017 included updating the console controls to our preferred system, the Legacy system by Classic Organ Works, unifying the action of the Swell 16′ Fagotto (which had been the Woodstock 8′ Oboe, extended) to play at 16′ and 8′ and providing a small extension chest for notes 62-73, installing new Arndt tremulants, and fabricating a new windchest to accommodate a small-scaled 8′ diapason addition to the Positive division.
